The Ottawa Go Club meets every Sunday at 11:30 AM till 3:00 PM.
Beginners and Experienced players are welcome.
Go (Weiqi in Chinese and Baduk in Korean) is the deepest strategy game.
Invented in China 3,500 years ago, it is considered one of the four arts required of a scholar.
Japan dominated Go for centuries but lost the crown to Korea.  China has recently retaken dominance.
Exercise your mind in every aspect, including concentration, timing, patience,
thinking ahead, anticipating your opponent's moves, etc.

Cathy Takahashi

August 6, 1959 ~ October 6, 2021 (age 62)
Tributes
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cathy Marie Takahashi on October 6, 2021. Cathy was born August 6, 1959 to Marg and Jack Sheffield. Cathy was a loving and devoted mother to Christy (Simon), Jenny (Rob) and Emi (Robert) who she shared with first husband, Phil. Beloved grandmother of Alice, Kato, Talula and Phil, much loved older sister to Steve Sheffield and caring aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was cherished by her spouse, Dennis Hearty, his daughter Lisa (Derek) and grandchildren Henry, Owen, Lilly and Grayson, as well as their pets Rio, Junior and Amy.
Cathy was an accomplished athlete. She was a former national judo champion and national team member, achieving a fourth degree black belt. After retiring from competition, she stayed involved in judo through coaching and teaching. She later developed a love of running, completing two marathons and several half marathons.
Cathy graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1982 with a B.A. and 1983 with a Bachelor of Education. She was a passionate and dedicated educator who taught in a variety of school settings and grade levels in her thirty-plus year career.
In her spare time, Cathy loved baking, gardening, knitting, reading and spending time with her dear friends and family. She was also a lifelong animal lover and rescuer.
Throughout her life, Cathy was known for her strength, capacity for joy and endless determination, along with her signature infectious laugh. She displayed all these traits and more over the course of her battle with cancer, an inspiration and a fighter until the end. Cathy’s family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care she received from the teams at TOH Oncology, Bytown Palliative and SE Health.
We are heartbroken to lose her but remain grateful to have experienced her love.
Donations to Lung Cancer Canada or Sit With Me dog rescue in Cathy’s memory would be much appreciated.
