SHOTOKAN (Tues. Thurs.)
Our instructor, Amos Mbenoun, started Shotokan-style karate when he was eight years old in Douala Cameroon with La Federation Camerounaise Des Arts Martiaux et Disciples Assimilees where he received his black belt and was champion of many National tournaments. Amos has been teaching karate since 1994 at the Takahashi Martial Arts Center while continuing to train at the JKA Head Quarter in Ottawa with Saeki-sensei. Amos is a 4th degree black belt and winner of many African tournaments, Canadian JKA tournaments plus some world Kobudo tournaments in kumite and kata. He is also a master of board breaking techniques (classes available as well).

SHITORYU (Mon. Wed.) Our instructor, Ayano Watanabe, was born in Yokohama, Japan, and immigrated to Canada in 1998. She began karate in Montreal in 1998, and has been training Shitoryu Karate with Shihan Claude Larouche in Gatineau since 2006. Ayano obtained 5th dan (5th degree black belt) in 2023. She also has a lot of experience teaching karate to children and adults. Shitoryu Karate Ottawa is a member of Shitoryu Karate Canada, and is affiliated with World Shitoryu Karatedo Federation (WSKF).
